DENVER - In light of the major security breaches at Target and Marriott hotels, college students are learning how to heed the next cyber-security attack.

A team of students from the Center for Convergence and Emerging Network Technologies (CCENT) cyber security test bed at the School of Information Studies (iSchool) is advancing to the second phase of competition in the Northeast regional section of the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition.

U of L’s Cyber Defense team won their state qualifier event on Feb. 15, beating Murray State University and Northern Kentucky University for the title. The team is currently ranked first out of schools in Kentucky, Iowa and Ohio.
